Brown has failed to find the end zone in ‘21.Ībove- Tech opened up the scoring on a play-action power pass. Ahmarean Brown, the former GT receiver who transferred to South Carolina, has only caught six passes all season long. To say hitting the transfer portal for McGowan was a success is an understatement. He’s averaging 15 yards per catch, his 2nd highest of his career. McGowan, a transfer from Northwestern, now has six receiving TDs on the season, and eight in his career. Kyric McGowan caught two TDs and Kalani Norris hauled in a 37-yard TD. Sims hit four receivers for double-digit yards per catch.
Gibbs ran for 132 yards on 10.2 yards per carry and a score. Sims also ran for 65 yards on 10 attempts. QB Jeff Sims threw for 300 yards and three touchdowns but on only 6.8 yards per pass attempt. The line also gave up only one sack and three tackles for loss. GT averaged 7.9 yards per carry and scored twice on the ground. The Jackets offensive line actually performed admirably. Sims has thrown only nine touchdowns with five interceptions on the season. Jeff Sims committed the only turnover of the evening with an interception. The Jackets limited their penalties to only three, but for 35 yards. Tech did convert their only 4th down attempt. The Hoos were 7-of-11 offensively on 3rd downs and Tech was only 6-of-13 on the money down. GT is now 3-4 on the season while UVA moves to 6-2. UVA and Bronco Mendenhall are now 2-0 against a Geoff Collins led Jackets squad. The Virginia Cavaliers knocked off the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 48-40 in Charlottesville, VA.
